Valentine’s Day as a Mom of 3: Love Looks Like Play
Valentine’s Day used to mean date nights and dressing up. Now?
It looks a lot more like messy play, laughter, and kids running around outside while I sip coffee and watch them just be kids.
And honestly, I wouldn’t trade this season.
As a mom of three, Valentine’s Day has become less about romantic gifts and more about how we show love as a family. For us, that means time together, screen-free play, and doing something that actually feels good for everyone.
Love Language: Quality Time (and Movement)
Kids don’t need big gestures. They need presence.
Some of my favorite Valentine’s Day moments aren’t planned at all:
- Playing outside together
- Laughing at who made the biggest mess
-
Watching creativity unfold without instructions or screens
That’s why this year, instead of candy overload or plastic trinkets, we’re choosing play-based gifts - the kind that get kids moving and imagining.
Giant Bubbles = Instant Joy
There is something magical about giant bubbles. Every single time.
Running, chasing, popping, failing, trying again - it’s all there:
-
Gross motor movement
-
Outdoor time
-
Pure joy
Giant bubble play is one of those rare activities where all three of my kids can play together, no matter the age gap. And bonus: I get to be part of it too, not just the referee.
Build A Bubble 3D STEAM Kits: Learning Through Play

I’m a big believer in learning that doesn’t feel like learning.
The Build A Bubble 3D STEAM kits are perfect for Valentine’s Day because they:
- Encourage problem-solving
- Support creativity and experimentation
-
Let kids lead the process
Instead of being told what to do, kids get to build, test, adjust, and try again. That’s confidence-building. That’s real learning. And that’s a gift that actually matters.
A Different Kind of Valentine’s Day Tradition
Here’s what Valentine’s Day looks like in our house:
- No pressure
- No packed schedules
-
Just intentional time together
We play. We laugh. We connect.
And yes, there are bubbles everywhere.
Love doesn’t need to be wrapped in pink paper. Sometimes it looks like standing in the yard watching your kids create giant bubbles and knowing you chose the right thing.
Final Thoughts
Valentine’s Day as a family doesn’t have to be loud or complicated.
It can be simple. It can be playful. It can be meaningful.
Choosing gifts like giant bubbles and Build A Bubble 3D STEAM kits reminds me that the best way to show love is to show up - on the floor, in the yard, fully present.
And if that means bubble solution on my shoes and kids begging for “one more round,” I’ll take it. 💗
